For students who would really enjoy a more “active” style of yoga, this class is certainly that! Ashtanga is sometimes referred to as “power yoga” because the foundation of this style is based upon the dynamic flow of Surya Namaskara A & B, the Sun Salutations. Vinyasa is the unique linking of one asana (posture) to the next in a serpentine flow, meditation in motion. This vigorous sequencing connects the mind and body to the rhythm of the breath, heating the blood, cleaning and thinning it so that it may circulate more freely. Improved blood circulation relieves joint pain and removes toxins and disease from the internal organs. The sweat generated from the heat of Ashtanga/Vinyasa then carries the impurities out of the body.
